Well, well, well. Playstation 3 is the definite loser of the 2006 but what about the 2007 and 2008? According to the GigaOm Xbox will be doomed in this holiday season. And I think they are right … partly. Wii is fun. There’s no doubt about that. But if you have a Wii and you have played through your Wii Sport and Zelda, what next? There isn’t enough good games on Wii.
Playstation 3 is what it is. Over priced and over hyped super machine. There will be many good releases on Blu-Ray and there will be a lot of new (and maybe some good) games. The big problem of Playstation 3 is decreasing number of exclusive games. If customers can get all of the great games on Xbox 360 too, there aren’t many reasons to buy Playstation 3.
GigaOm thinks that the winner will be Wii. Maybe. But we can’t forget that Playstation 2 is still very good gaming console and there will be new PS2 titles. New version of PSP is a sign that Sony has plans for the handheld also. If the Microsoft will be loser (and because of quality problems!) it isn’t sure that the Nintendo is the winner.
But the real loser will be gamers. There are way too many shitty games around and the future releases don’t show any significant improvement.
